FAQ

Do I have to be a stay-at-home mom?

No! We have members who work part-time, work from home, have flexible schedules, or stay home. The International MOMS Club® was designed to provide support for moms. If you are a mom, you are welcome in our chapter no matter how you spend your days!

What are the moms in your club like?

Meeting new people can be intimidating, but this is one of the most genuine, down-to-earth group of moms around. We have moms welcoming their first child, and moms getting ready to send their first born off to college this fall. While our ages and interests vary, the love and commitment we have for our children, and the support we are able to offer each other is something we all have in common.

What are the ages of the kids in the club?

Our kids ages range from newborn to teenagers. The majority of our events are geared towards newborn to five years old. Check out the Activities Tab to see the different types of activities we plan. Keep in mind, a lot of our activities are planned with our moms in mind. So even if your kids aren't interested in playdates, you can participate in book club, lunch bunch, coffee chat, and another mom-centric activities.

How will I know what events are planned?

Once you are a member of MOMS Club, you will be added to our Meetup page where all events are listed.

Do I have to attend a minimum number of activities per month? Or am I responsible for planning monthly activities?

No, you are able to participate in as many or as few activities as you like. We highly encourage our members to attend as many events as they're able to, but of course we understand that life happens...kids nap, someone gets sick, another someone can't find their shoes, the baby has a blowout as soon as they're buckled in their carseat, or sometimes you just need some chill time at home!

This group will become what you make of it, many of our members have found lifelong friends through MOMS Club, or someone to trust as their Emergency Contact when they don't have family nearby.

Do you have a religious affiliation?

No, we are not a religious group.

Do I have to RSVP for every activity?

No, we only ask that you RSVP for activities you plan to attend, and kindly update your RSVP if anything changes.

Do your activities cost money?

The majority of our activities are free. If an activity will have an added cost the coordinator will make sure to put that information in the Meetup event. Activities that would cost money could include trips to the museum, zoo, or a local play place.

Who organizes and hosts your activities?

Our moms do! Currently, we have over a dozen assigned coordinator positions, each run by a member of our club. The coordinators are responsible for scheduling and hosting their specific activities and are the main point of contact for those activities. You never have to worry about showing up to an event and not knowing who is in charge.

If I move out of the McKinney-Central area mid-year, can I keep my membership?

Yes, you will be able to keep your membership with the McKinney-Central group until your renewal date. If you are still close to the area and want to continue your membership you can talk to the Membership VP, or they can help you find a MOMS Club chapter closer to you.

Do I have to join for the entire year?

Yes, membership is offered on an annual basis. Your year starts as soon as you sign the paperwork and pay your $25 dues.

Who leads your club?

We are lead by a Board of six volunteers who are elected by the club. The Board for the 2020-2021 year includes President, Vice President, Membership VP, Secretary, and Co-Treasurers. We also have volunteer coordinator positions that are responsible for planning and hosting activities.

Why is the MOMS in MOMS Club capitalized?

MOMS stands for Moms Offering Moms Support®.

I am not in the McKinney-Central boundaries, is there a MOMS Club in my area?

A list of the current MOMS Club chapters are available on the International MOMS Club website. If your area is not currently served by a MOMS Club chapter, please consider starting your own! See the International MOMS Club's website for more information and assistance.
