Activities
These are some of our most frequent activities, though we are always happy to add new groups or activities to our calendar:
After-School Activities: Science experiments, crafts, park play and field trips are just a few of the activities we might host that are planned with school-aged kids in mind
Babies Group: We have a group just for the little bitties (and their siblings) to get together and play while our moms chat
Book Club: Based on the recommendation of club members, a book is selected each month for moms to read and discuss over coffee and/or snacks. Some moms don't have time to finish the book but come for some extra social time
Business Meetings: Our business meetings are held approximately once a month. We may have a speaker come and talk to us about a topic that relates to families and mothering, or a guest who does a presentation for the children. Other times we will plan an activity or craft for the children while moms discuss business issues
Busy Bees: Our monthly playgroup for ages 2-5 (and their siblings) meets at a member's house or a local fun spot to get their wiggles out while our moms enjoy time with friends.
Coffee Chat: Moms grab a drink while the kiddos play. Coffee chat may be held at a park, a coffee shop or a fast-food chain. It's nice to have a little conversation over coffee
Community Service: Past projects have included donating pajamas and slippers as Christmas gifts to the moms at Shiloh Place, care packages for service members overseas, a Halloween costume parade at the McKinney Senior Center, diaper donations, and a food drive for the community pantry. We also have an annual Trunk-or-Treat where we invite children from local charities to attend
Crafting: Our crafty moms lead us in Pinterest-worthy projects, creating fun items for ourselves and our kids
Exercise: Our fitness-minded mamas encourage us to get moving by hosting stroller walks in the park, yoga, and other activities
Field Trips: It's always nice to have friends to share new experiences! We go on mini-adventures all over the Dallas area, from berry picking, to the aquarium or the zoo
Let's Chat: Each month our Let's Chat coordinator chooses a topic of interest for moms and we have a discussion while the kids play. Previous topics have included finances, cultivating kindness in our kids, dreams for the future, and stress management
Lunch Bunch: Everybody needs a break from the regular lunchtime routine. This is a great opportunity for moms and kids to get together, have lunch at a kid-friendly location, and socialize
MOMS Night Out: Every mom needs a break, and MOMS Night out is the perfect way to relax and catch your breath. Sometimes we try out a new restaurant in town, or go back to an old favorite. We might even head to an escape room or movie theater
Park/Pool Days: Who doesn't love playtime at the park? We meet at parks all over McKinney (sometimes Frisco, Prosper, and Allen, too) for playtime with friends. Pool and splash pad days are a summer favorite. Moms can visit while the kids burn off some of their never-ending energy supply
Podcast Club: A modern take on book club. Each month, interested moms listen to a podcast and then meet over coffee, brunch, etc. to discuss
Sunshine Committee: This committee helps make our members feel welcome, special, and supported in ways ranging from birthday shoutouts to meal trains for moms who are going through a hard time
